Summary of Role  

 

The Professional Standards Department (PSD) of Chartered Accountants Ireland, along with the relevant compliance and disciplinary committees is responsible for the delivery of the Institute’s regulation and disciplinary obligations which derive both from statute and its own Bye-Laws & Regulations.  

The PSD department are seeking to recruit an administrator on a full-time permanent basis to provide administration support for the Institute’s Professional Conduct process and corresponding Committees. This role reports to the Head of Professional Conduct. 

 

Key Responsibilities  

 

Key responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to: 

  • Organisation of records and diaries 

  • Preparing and filing material relating to cases 

  • Assisting with invoicing and payments 

  • Assisting with all standard administrative tasks within the Professional Conduct Department and providing cover for colleagues as necessary 

  • Screening telephone calls, post and emails 

  • Assisting with the implementation of various policies and procedures (including data protection, retention and archiving)  

  • Such other tasks as may arise from time to time such as filing, file administration, ad hoc projects 

 

General   

  • General support for stakeholders in terms of their interactions with PSD  

  • Support the PSD in delivery of tasks, projects and activities designed to promote good professional standards 

  • Support other members of the wider administrative team, especially when practical support is required due to holiday, sickness absence or work peaks 

  • Performing any other ad-hoc duties as may be required to ensure that the objectives of the Professional Standards Department are met. 

 

Skills and Experience 

  • Three to five years of successful administrative experience.  

  • Excellent word processing skills, strong attention to detail 

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft, including Word, Excel, and Outlook as well as Adobe. 

  • Ability to deal with challenging situations. 

  • Excellent planning and organisation skills and the ability to manage competing priorities,

  • A positive, proactive and professional approach 

  • A strong work ethic with particular aptitude of working efficiently and effectively under pressure  

  • Experience of fostering positive working relationships

Desirable  

  • Experience in a legal, compliance or regulatory environment is desirable.
